our roots
How does that saying go … you can take the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl …
Hi! my name is Emily and I’m that said “girl.” Growing up in Iowa on a multi-generational farm that has been in my family since 1897, I was sure I was destined for the city life, so after College, I jetted off for the city. Fast forward a few years and my husband and I settled into our new lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, and instantly began looking for land. Turns out for us the city lights couldn’t replace the country stars. It took a few years, but when we first laid eyes on the simple hay field with some woods and an old overgrown homestead everything about it brought joy. A dream was born and we were home.
Today Sequoia Hills Farm is a small farm focused on restoring our property back to the native landscape. We are passionate about soil health, creating pollinator habitats and native plant species. We are committed to no-till and sustainable farming practices that can transcend generations and hope to inspire the next round of young farmers.
